New York Botanical Garden’s Edible Academy Achieves Sustainable Design Milestones
03 March 2014

On target to meet LEED-NC Gold, the Edible Academy will achieve several firsts for the New York Botanical Garden. The project will double the number of opportunities for children and families to learn about the connections among plants, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle through edible gardening—the foundation of the “farm-to-table” movement. It will also feature some of the first composting toilets in New York City, approved in the fall by the Department of Buildings. The project, led by Cooper Robertson partner-in-charge Scott Newman, AIA, and project manager Bruce Davis, AIA, is expected to break ground in 2015
