of

Cooper Robertson developed an analysis and program to assist the VMFA in determining its space needs to meet its 10-year strategic goals and to support its capital campaign for a major renovation and expansion project. The outcomes of the three-phase planning process serve as a guide for change that outline how to address needs for stronger connections to the Richmond community, the display and care of the Museum’s expanding collections, as well as growth in programs, events, and educational initiatives. Recommendations include expanded galleries for photography and a significant collection of African Art, new special exhibition galleries, a works-on-paper conservation and study center, and a flexible event space opening onto the Museum’s expansive Sculpture Garden.
