Ethical Culture Fieldston School

The Ethical Culture Fieldston School chose Cooper Robertson to program, plan, and design new academic and athletic buildings and to re-purpose existing spaces on their historic Riverdale campus. After comprehensive examination and analysis of the campus, we proposed a master plan that sites three new buildings and new outdoor spaces.

A new middle school building accommodates 6th through 8th grades in a facility that supports the academic, social, and emotional transition of students from childhood to adolescence. We designed a new building as a literal and figurative bridge between the upper and lower schools.

In response to growing demand for athletic space, we created a new field house with gymnasium and fitness facilities and a new competition aquatic center. The new athletic buildings frame the view from the historic heart of the campus to create a contemporary backdrop to the athletic fields.
