The adaptation of a former staple factory accomplished three goals for the Museum of Modern Art during the expansion of its Manhattan building. First, the satellite facility maintained the museum’s visual identity while the Manhattan building was closed. Second, it housed major exhibitions as a temporary museum for two years in flexible gallery spaces. And third, it supports preservation and research activities well into the future housing a library, archives, conservation labs, and digital imaging studios.
