After a thorough national search, Cooper, Robertson was selected to redesign and expand the signature facility at the University of Maine. The building, originally completed in 1986, is a unique combination of a 1,629-seat concert hall and an anthropological museum and is one of the few performing arts and cultural venues in Northern Maine. The design transforms the building with a prominent new glass pavilion entrance revealing the multi-purposes inside. Public spaces have improved accessibility and provide a more attractive and functional setting for the hall, the museum, and the many events and programs held in the building. The Hudson Museum now has a dedicated space with ample galleries and proper climate control; and the newly refurbished hall has center aisles to ease seating access.
