    “Skipping Stone” cottage is located on Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes wine region of New York State. The house sits directly on the Lake, facing west, on a plot of land that is only thirty-five feet from the public street to the shoreline. Designed to cascade down the sloping hillside, the house is oriented toward the lake giving each of the primary living spaces, as well as each of the bedrooms, fabulous views and outdoor living spaces (extensions of the indoor living spaces) on each floor. From the landward approach the house appears to be a modestly scaled one-story cottage yet from the lake, and the larger context, it is a two-story house on an elegant brick plinth.
