Cooper, Robertson designed two mixed-use buildings on the town square at Bay Meadows in compliance with the design guidelines drawn-up in our Master Plan for Bay Meadows. The design was informed by several plan-check workshops with the client and master planning team to ensure that all buildings at Bay Meadows fit within the larger context of the community. The layered, vertical composition of the main building is expressed using materials: limestone for the base, stucco in the middle, and painted siding on the top floor. Upper-story balconies and French doors allow residents to take advantage of the temperate climate and interact with the public spaces below. The four-story structure is complemented by a second two-story building containing shops and offices. Together, the buildings create a courtyard with a fountain and live bamboo. All parking is hidden underground.
