Harvard will be expanding its campus further into the Allston neighborhood, where its stadium and Business School are already located. A physical framework to accommodate substantial future extension was developed by Cooper, Robertson (in collaboration with Olin and Gehry Partners) to accommodate 4 million square feet of laboratory space as well as athletic, residential, and cultural uses. The design integrates plans for numerous LEED certified buildings, energy and water conservation strategies, decreased waste production, and storm water management. Among possible infrastructure changes are improved transportation links to different parts of the campus, additional river crossings, new and enhanced pedestrian and bicycle paths, and new open spaces shared with the Allston community.
