• Fountain Square

    Cincinnati, Ohio

Cooper, Robertson initially devised an urban design framework for the City of Cincinnati to support a strategic business plan for the central city. Identifying areas where future public/private investment should be focused led to the precinct surrounding the historic Fountain Square as a place which was physically poorly designed but which could act as the civic heart of an active retail area, were it to be revitalized. A new public/private corporation was established and Cooper, Robertson developed a detailed plan to completely refurbish the Square - improving access, landscape, lighting, and community uses. New trees line the perimeter and the historic fountain was moved from the street to the center of the square, which is now thriving.
