Cooper, Robertson analyzed the needs and inadequacies of this aging theater and came up with a long-term plan to address them while making sure that all changes could be made without disrupting the performance seasons of the resident ballet and opera companies. Identifying the need for an additional 150,000 square feet of space, the master plan proposes expanding the site to accommodate more stage and on-site rehearsal space which zoning will allow for. Renovations, restoration of the promenade, and improved acoustics are also detailed in the final plan. The Phase One improvements have been implemented and the theater has been renamed the David H. Koch Theater.
