• MoMA WORKS ON PAPER COLLECTION STORAGE

    New York, New York

Cooper, Robertson designed the new collection storage and support areas for three of MoMA's curatorial departments. Working closely with curators as well as conservators and archivists, the firm evaluated current storage methods, handling requirements, and the various activities which draw upon stored items from exhibits to classes. The firm also took MoMA staff on visits to other museums and opened a dialogue with other institutions to consider alternate methods of storage which might be beneficial. Cooper, Robertson developed detailed plans, construction documents, and monitored construction for the new facility which now houses more than 8,000 works from the Drawings collection, 14,430 titles for the Department of Prints and Illustrated Books, and about 40,000 works in a new cold vault designed by Cooper, Robertson for the Department of Photography.
