SCUP Journal: Future Imperfect, Lessons Learned for an Approach to Achieve More Resilient Places
01 October 2015

In this article, William Kenworthey discusses best practices and lessons learned in resiliency planning at the local, state, and national levels, including for Battery Park City; Central Delaware Waterfront in Philadelphia; Candlestick Point in San Francisco; NYC Special Initiative for Rebuilding and Resiliency; New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program; and HUD’s Rebuild by Design.

In particular, he shares Cooper Robertson’s approach to issues on the tri-state waterfront, especially working with commercial corridors in Asbury Park, Red Hook, and Rockaway Park, and developing a toolkit of solutions applicable across scales—buildings, corridors, districts and regions.
